This is a frequent question I hear. “How long will it take to work through all your materials?” and “How much time will it take to learn this?” And there is no set answer. Because it varies from person to person. And each dental practice is so uniquely wonderful. That it is just impossible to know for sure.
It takes as long as it takes. Proficiency is something that works itself out. Step by step and day by day we grow and change. And one day we realize we did it! However, we see there is always something new to work on. And that’s how life is. It’s truly not a destination. We never really “arrive” but we can surely thrive! The tools we use along the way and the people who lead us make all the difference in the world.

Dental front desk proficiency looks different to everyone. Which is another reason it’s difficult to put a time frame on the training process. Define for yourself what your goals are right now. And set a time limit. Perhaps set a 30 day period or one month aside for a specific purpose. For example, you may want to focus on telephone training for one month.
Take the tools available for you here and put them to use. Schedule team meetings each week and work through phone scripts and tips. Or pick a different system and training mode. Focus on your most pressing needs right now. Listen to the team and see where there might be obstacles. And problem solve with the team. Not only is this great team building exercise, but you’ll learn some things about your practice. And you’ll learn some things about the team too!

Dental front desk training is team training. We definitely want the entire team capable of administrative tasks. And we need the team to be fully aware of our business systems. Everyone must be able to present treatment, schedule appointments, and collect payment. Especially if we want every day to run as smoothly as possible.
