Think about how we learn.  Reading about something and actually doing it are two very different processes.  Think about your training and education to become a dentist.  You did more than just read a book or take a course.  But that was the beginning of your training.

Then, there were maybe some observation opportunities.  Followed up by some hands-on experiences with supervision.  And eventually to less supervised opportunities.  

Training Time Considerations

Time and training go hand in hand.   As was the case as the dentist worked to become the dentist.   So, we must consider our dental office team as an extension of our work.  And accept that time is a factor.  But one to define.

So, how do we do that?  Often, through our probationary period for new hires.  We set a mark of 90-days for our newest team members to assimilate and become part of the team.  But do we outline what is to happen in those 90 days?  I mean truly outline the days and weeks for our team?

Technology is our greatest time-saving tool.  Especially when it comes to training and on-boarding new team members.   However, it is also very beneficial for continual team training and updates.

If you are still training your team through strictly through paper hand-outs and peer support, you are missing the mark.  And draining your team of valuable energy resources.  Not to mention all the other issues that come up with this type of training.   And you certainly can’t do it all yourself!
