Dental Practice Recession Considerations

Dental Practice Recession Considerations often begin when a recession is upon us.

Dental Practice Recession Considerations Begin

Dental practice recession considerations begin when we hear that “r” word too often.  Eventually, it pricks our ear.  And we wonder.  Perhaps we contemplate.  What does this mean for my dental practice?  And is there something I need to do?

These are great questions!  And worthy of consideration.  Where can we trim some fat?  Is there excess spending anywhere?  And where can we beef up our systems to consistently draw patients who schedule treatment?

Dentistry is a Human Need

People have teeth.  And teeth require dentists.  Sooner or later.  Money is a key consideration.  Patients make different choices during a financial recession.  And may think more about their decisions.

So, we do something fabulous!  We get even better at what we do.  It’s a huge motivator!   New patients are even more exciting.  Treatment presentations are more thorough.  And financial presentations shine with polish.   Because that’s what it takes!  It takes better!  In fact, our best is necessary.

A dentist wearing a mask sits next to a female patient in his dental chair. She holds her mouth. Scheduling dental emergency patients well keeps the dental restorative schedule productive and provides exceptional patient care.

Roll Out the Welcome Mat

Make way for those dental emergency patients.  Even those who are not yet your patient!  Every phone call from an emergency patient is a cry for help.  So, decide early in the day where in the schedule emergency patients go.

Same day dentistry is another big opportunity.  The patient is in your treatment room.  They are ready for treatment now.  So, now is the time to consider.  Even if it’s just a beginning.  And we complete treatment tomorrow.  Or another day soon.  It’s critical to begin now.

Dental Practice Recession Considerations

This is where we add some strength to our dental office day.  Here is where we power up!  With better schedule template management.  And fabulous phone skills.  Add a touch of exceptional customer service.  And you’ve got it!

Prepare now while there is time.  Even if a recession doesn’t rear its head.  The team grows new abilities to manage emergency patients.  And to truly shine in overall patient care.

Dental Practice Recession Considerations Include Receivables

Collections is the other area to zone in on now.  It’s a great time to reduce all outstanding debt.  Unpaid dental insurance claims.  As well as patient balances.  Eliminate your over 90-day category altogether!  And bring your total accounts receivable down below your average monthly production total.

Be sure the administrative team implements my Weekly Management Systems to do this.  And continue to use my system going forward.  It’s truly the best way to be sure it’s done.  Not to mention, super simple as well!

Put the Recession to Good Use

It sounds strange, right?   But we can grow even during challenging times.  After all, strong economies bring their own challenges too.  It’s just a different challenge.  Our dental practice success rests on our perspective and intent.

What’s your perspective on your practice future?  And what is your intent?  To be the very vest dental practice in town?  Right on!  The practice where patients wait on a call list for sooner appointments.  And prepay for dentistry!

You’ve got this!
