Learn as You Go is Tough!

Front desk dental office training on my first job was rough.  I was 28 years old.  Excited!  Enthusiastic! And totally lost!!

A desk with a computer and a telephone.   Good.  A dentist and two hygienists.  Good.   Now what?  Other team members were available to help.  But it was a roller coaster ride for us all.

My First Performance Review

One of the dentists in the practice sat with me to discuss my performance after a year.  His concern was big.  And that I might not understand the importance of a fully booked schedule.

I was speechless.  It was his first conversation with me at all.  My responsibilities didn’t include his schedule.  And most important, no training was provided.    I was overwhelmed and frustrated.  But determined to bring it all together.

My Segway Story

In 2002 or so, I met Dean Kamen.  Dean Kamen invented the Segway.  Mr. Kamen was a patient at a dental practice where I worked at the time.   I learned a valuable lesson from him.

Why Systems Work So Well

Mr. Kamen wore one outfit that he loved to wear every day of his life.  Not exactly the same outfit.  He had a new clean set of clothing for each day, but each day he wore the same thing.  Blue jeans and a blue button-down shirt were worn every single day.  There was a closet full of them in his house.

Why did Mr. Kamen wear the same thing each day?  To clear his head.  There were more important things to think about than what to wear.  Inventions were waiting for him.  Ideas to populate.

Front Desk Dental Office Training with Weekly Management

Over the next decades, and several dental practices later, I created Weekly Management Systems.  The idea came up as I trained my own business assistant.  She was brilliant.  And a quick learner.  But never felt fully accomplished.

I needed her to feel like she was.  And to leave the office each day with a great feeling.   The feeling of a job well done.  And to be able to start a new day tomorrow.  With a clean slate.  And that’s the story.

I Love It!

I love to share what I do.  And how you can train your dental front office with my powerful Weekly Management System!
