Show new team members how to use each piece of office equipment in the office Introduce the practice management software and supporting technologies.
Spend time with the office phones and voicemail systems. As well as credit card machines, fax machines, copiers, and such.
Allow new team members to practice operating each of the machines and to begin their software training.

Encourage the new team member to introduce themselves to patients. And avoid saying “I’m new”. Rather, encourage the administrator to say, “I’ve just joined the team and I look forward to helping you.
Watch & Listen
Have the new team members to watch and listen to other team members answer phones, schedule appointments, reschedule appointments, and make note of the phrases and words used.
Each interaction team members have with one another and with patients communicates the office policy. And is a valuable tool for the new team member’s training.
Patient Check-In & Check-Out
Have the new team member begin to check patients in for their appointments according to office protocol and greeting all patients upon arrival. This is a great way to demonstrate how we stand and greet each patient by name.
Also, be sure to emphasize the patient send-off. Remind team members that this is the most important part of the patient’s appointment with us!
